How to filter mails in Gmail?

I know how frustrating it is to filter out mails in Gmail but do you know it is not as difficult as it sounds. You can filter mails in your Gmail in-box in just these three steps:

  1. Login to your Gmail account.
  2. type "from" followed by a ":" and mail id you want to search.
  3. Press Search
You will get all the mails from that sender.

The below listed operators can be used in combination to make your result more accurate simple example would be you want to seach all the chat messages of a particular sender here is what your query would look like: from:abc@abc.com is:chat

Please note that the ":" are very important which identifies the operators as operators and not just search terms.
