Today lets talk about the top 5 most popular and mostly used search engines in the world. There are many websites with similar articles but I have focused on Google PageRank as well as Alexa ranking to come to the conclusion.
No# 5: Ask.com
Ask.com has a Google Pagerank of 8 and Alexa traffic rank of 47 world wide. It had tough competition from AOL.com but the back end of the AOL.com is supported by Google so ASK.com takes the Number 5 spot in the overall world ranking of Search Engines.
No# 4: Bing.com
Bing.com has a Google Pagerank of 8 and Alexa traffic rank of 20 world wide. The rivalry between Google and Microsoft is well known and Bing.com is Microsoft's answer to Google. How far it has succeeded only time will tell. But Bing.com is gaining popularity over a period of time.
No# 3: Baidu.com
Baidu.com is a Chinese search engine. Google never had good relations with Chinese and China came up with their own search engine. Baidu.com has an impressive Google Pagerank of 9 and Alexa traffic rank of 6 world wide. It had tough competition from search.yahoo.com but since its popularity is just in China and placing it in No 3 spot would be a fair thing to do.
No# 2: Search.Yahoo.com
Search.yahoo.com has a Google Pagerank of 8 and Alexa traffic rank of 4 world wide. It is also very popular in the entire world and it deserved the number 2 spot. Baidu.com had a better pagerank than yahoo search but yahoo's global popularity was one of the deciding factors to be placed at the number 2 spot.
No# 1: Google.com
You hate it you love it but you can't ignore it. Yes the undoubted Search engines to acquire the No 1 spot in the world of search engines is Google.com. Google has a perfect Pagerank of 10 and Alexa traffic rank of 1 world wide.
Google has not just enabled people to search webpages through its search engine but also created money earning opportunities for millions of web publishers. Google is getting tough competition from all the above 4 search engines but still remains the most popular search engine in the entire world.
The Alexa and Google Pagerank of these sites will change in the future. But how far it will change the ranking is yet to be seen. It would be very difficult for Bing and Yahoo to dislodge Google from its supreme number one spot, but what happens in the future is yet to be seen and anything can happen in the field of technology.
